Do you offer a free initial consultation?
Yes I do. Before we begin therapy I like to offer a free initial consultation. This can be via phone or if you prefer an email exchange. During this short consultation I will ask you to give me a brief outline of the difficulties you are experiencing and what you feel your goals are for therapy.
This helps me to know whether or not I can work with you. If I feel I am unable to work with you I will try to signpost you to a colleague who may help to meet your needs more appropriately than me. If you and I both feel we can work together we will go ahead and book an appointment at this stage.
What happens in the first appointment?
Together, in the initial session(s) we will create a formulation that helps us to understand your difficulties from a psychological perspective; be it using a CBT or person-centered formulation. We will then use this formulation to guide the work. In the initial sessions we will also spend more time identifying the goals for therapy. We will refer back to these goals to ensure we stay on track or review and adjust the goals as you start to feel better.
Can I come back to see you once we have completed therapy?
Often people ask if they can come in and have top up sessions following therapy. We will discuss this carefully to ensure there is not a dependency developing on therapy/ me. However, if it seems as though the sessions will help you to stay on track I am happy to offer top up sessions. Sometimes clients have another issue they would like to deal with and I am always happy to offer further sessions to previous clients.
Do you offer therapy for trainee therapists?
Yes I do. I’m happy to provide therapy for students in training. We will work together to identify your objectives and goals for therapy. I am happy to provide a flexible space for you to make the best use of your time with me.
Do you offer clinical supervision?
I provide clinical supervision for therapists in training or qualified therapists. I provide a non-judgemental and supportive environment for you to grow as a therapist.
How often are therapy sessions held?
We will meet on a regular weekly basis initially. The sessions last for 50 minutes. Occasionally we may book in a longer session for a specific piece of work, which will have been pre-arranged.
How long will I need to attend sessions for?
I generally tend to work with my clients on a medium term basis, ie up to 20 sessions. However, I will offer further sessions if the client and I feel it will be beneficial and we will have regular reviews with a focus on our work.
What are the fees?
The fee for sessions is £120 per 50 minute session. Clinical supervision is £80 per 50 minute session.
Do you accept insurance referrals?
I work with all of the main insurance providers. You can choose to either contact your insurance provider and request an authorisation before booking an initial telephone consultation with me or vice versa.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24 hours notice of cancellation policy. I understand that sometimes we need to cancel our appointments as life gets in the way. However, therapy does require commitment and regular sessions are important to make effective changes. If you do need to cancel please try to give me as much notice as possible so that I may rearrange my time or offer the session to another client. Less than 24 hours notice of cancellation will require the full fee of the session to be paid. Insurance providers do not cover cancellations therefore you will be liable for the full fee if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice.
